As we are pulling in to San Antonio from Austin low and behold we see this eye sore of concrete and steel and I immediately said "something went terribly bad there"!! Everyone in the car agreed. We had to find out the story on this mess. Sure enough, Betty Feldman - City Architect was able to give us the story. Additionally, it just so happened the developer who took over the project was Ed Cross and we were to meet with him on a another, much more successful project and we would be able to discuss it further with him. The gist of the story is a wealthy individual had a vision in mind but failed to do the research to support the project. When he wanted changes made to the plans, the contractors would not do it because they did not have appoved plans and said if they were to do it, it would cost $750,000. Needless to say, they did not do it and soon walked off the job. Long story short, law suits were filed and the property was tied up for years and the original developer tried to hold on as long as he could and finally lost it. Now enter Ed Cross who plans to re-develop the property in a way that it will no longer be an eye sore to the City. "Ed Cross to the rescue"! It was a pleasure meeting with Ed, who ironically had to rush off from our meeting at the very successful Vistana to meet with City officials regarding a particular eye sore in the City. Despite his having to leave, Ed was kind enough to meet with us after his City meeting and before heading home to his family for dinner. We truly enjoyed his company and him sharing stories with us. Thank you so much Ed.
